Our Story
From civil construction in Gladstone to life among the vines in Ballandean, this was a change we never second-guessed.
In 2013, we packed up our careers: Brad as an engineer and Stacey in safety management and headed for the Granite Belt in the middle of winter. The vineyard was overgrown, the learning curve steep, and within two weeks we’d agreed to supply grapes for the upcoming vintage… before we fully understood what that meant.
What followed was a crash course in vineyard life: pruning, growing, harvesting, and figuring it all out as we went. Thankfully, we didn’t do it alone. The Ballandean community welcomed us with open arms, sharing knowledge, equipment, and plenty of honest advice. There were mistakes (many), laughs (even more), and a few unforgettable moments. Some involving tractors, radiators, and creative problem-solving.
In 2015, we planted our own varieties, including Alvarinho, one of the first plantings in Australia and Gros Manseng. These vines are deeply personal to us, marking the beginning of our journey from growers to winemakers.
By 2016, we released our first wines in collaboration with Bent Road Winery, transforming Sancerre Estate from a vineyard into a true estate-grown wine producer. Today, every bottle we offer is made from grapes we grow, hand-pruned and hand-picked, and in small batches, sometimes even foot-stomped and basket pressed.
In 2023, we began building our cellar door and Winery. Something we’d dreamed of from the start.
We have been welcoming guests since Easter 2025 and look forward to meeting you too.
Because for us, this isn’t just wine. It’s a life we chose, and one we love sharing.
